Given that vanity is a woman’s favorite sin, it’s close to impossible for beauty salons to go out of business. But as the Adidas tagline goes, impossible is nothing – our hole-in-the-wall hair salon closed down. Though the minimalist place sits only three people at a time, all the customers that come in are well-to-do, in turn allowing us to buy upscale salon equipment online. The clientele included young urban professionals, reality show starlets and international models that didn’t seem to mind waiting out in the cold just to get their hair done or to get their supply of MonaVie wholesale on busy, fully-booked weekends. But for some reason things just didn’t work out – between the bi-sexual owners, above anything else. Operation was seized leaving many a young celebrity with dark roots, split ends, broken nails and hanging cuticles.

For starters, I called up a few regulars at the old salon to get an idea of what services they needed most. What surfaced to be the most sought after ones are basic hair care – trim, styling, shampoo and condition, blow dry and color; hand, foot and nail spa treatments; and facials. It’s good to know the specific range of services you’d be providing so it would be easier to find the necessary online beauty salon equipment. You can also use this to compare your business to existing competitors. Keep the following in mind: what you can offer that others cannot, what sets you apart from others in the industry and just how ‘attractive’ your pricing is.

Having a readily available list of services also comes in handy when you’re advertising your business. I could only hope that my hands would be full the moment I open my little “beautique” what with the number of patrons of the old salon who are still stylist-less. Though I had to make sure my little salon would be up and running, regardless of the existing referrals that I printed out fliers and business cards – all the better for putting my business out in the market.

I only set-up the actual work station when I was confident enough that my little “beautique” would be filled with customers. The basement seemed to be a fitting area as it was spacious enough to hold in clients, the salon equipment retail and beauty salon equipment wholesale.
