Everyone thinks she’s a breath of fresh air, a ray of light, heaven-sent. But I know better; she’s the devil incarnate sent to earth to ruin my life. The David to my Goliath, the Delilah to my Samson, the Gabriella to my Sharpay – you get the picture.
I had to make sure I still had their votes. I had to win them back. My nights were spent slaving over campaign materials, searching all over for the best promotional products NC has to offer. If Rosie was giving out pins and stickers with her too-smiley face right smack in the middle, I had to outdo her. For total exposure, designs of my campaign loot had to be over-the-top, flashy – the works. I can’t afford to hand out crappy materials that would end up in the trash. No. I was meant to win.
Like any other popular girl, I had my posse do the dirty work. Threatened by the idea of being compulsorily fed protein bars, they were able to find the best company specializing in screen printing in all of Raleigh NC to make creative campaign trinkets. Rosie’s little gang found out about my strategy and they got hold of some embroidery specialist in Durham NC to help her out. She must have lost it thinking that embroidery is still the trend. Horror of horrors, the next day at gym class, more than half of the kids had little Rosie faces embroidered on the breast pocket of their shirts.
The whole 16 years of my life flashed before my very eyes. This could be the end, my end. I had to come up with more gimmicks. I just wonder though what went wrong with my tee shirt printing in Raleigh NC. Maybe I should give away free movie passes to everyone or worse comes to worst, selling my soul. Yes, I wanted to win that bad. It was three days before elections; I was running out of time. I could only wish the fates would be on my side.
There could be only one winner in every competition. I am not one to go down without a fight. There will be blood – it will not be mine.
