In scorching hot weather conditions it is difficult to concentrate on work and live. Hence, the air conditioner has become an absolute necessity there rather than a luxury thing. It was first developed by Stuart Cramer, but the word was suggested by W. Carrier.
Air conditioners decrease air humidity and maintain its quality. There are ACs that dry the air without cooling it. The main constituents of the AC are a condenser, an evaporator and a compressor. It also uses a chemical that converts gas into liquid and vice versa.
There are two types of air conditioning systems: a split and a package system. In the split system, the condenser and the compressor are set outside the room and the evaporator is installed inside the room. The evaporator is designed for circulating the air around the room. In the package system, all constituents are placed outside the room.
There are small, mid-sized and large-sized air conditioners. The most widely used AC is the window air conditioner which is installed on a window and intended for cooling a particular room. If you want to cool more than one room, choose a split or a mini-split AC, depending on how many rooms you need to cool. The most widespread ones are portable air conditioning systems that can be moved around. For cooling the whole house choose central air conditioning systems.
Portable air conditioning systems are beneficial, because you can install them in any room. It is a movable unit on wheels so that you can conveniently move it from one room to another.
The only downside of the AC is electricity bills that can adversely impact upon one's budget. Nevertheless, below are several handy tips that help you decrease the amount of electricity consumed by your AC and, consequently, bills:
• Do not put the AC the sun's direct rays. This makes the air conditioning system use more power for cooling your room.
• Do not use a large-sized air conditioning in a small-sized room.
• Close all doors and windows, when the air conditioner is in on.
By using the AC rationally, you can significantly reduce your expenses.
