There are many things that could cause us harm in our day to day living. From the seasonal virus we acquired during our contact with the different people, to our depressed immunity because of our own fault; we are all vulnerable to diseases. But if diseases are concerned, we are more threatened by the basic animals that we consider pests. Among them is a house rat. If someone would review history, rats carried the most number of casualties back in the dark ages. With the bubonic plague ,a great number of people died. There are even times when the dead were just piling up at the front door of the house. Nowadays, though we are no longer living in the same situation as the dark ages; still a rat could potentially do us harm than we could ever imagine.

If you are living in a flooded area with sewer water running in the streets, you could possibly be experiencing Leptospirosis; a disease caused by the microorganism that lives on rats. Through their urine, the microorganism of Leptospirosis makes its way to a human host; completing its life cycle in a person’s liver. With that kind of disease, you could expect chain of reactions from the body including jaundice.

The problem with infestation could sometimes be difficult to solve. For one, they are feeding with the very same food we feed upon. So if you really want to extinguish them, completely remove our food from the table and be able to live without any physiologic need. Now, that is an impossible thing to do. Or, you could actually hire someone to get them extinguished.

In the US, New York is among the most populated. With every person, he or she would consume food. This is the same food that is going to be consumed by the pests once it hits the trash bin or any place for that matter. It is a fact that for every person living in New York, there are more rats living in the city sewers and how much more for the roaches. These types of pests multiply exponentially, thus experts are needed to do the things needed to be done.
