Since moving to Glendale two years ago, hubby and I concentrated on the car wash project as we deemed it a lucrative business in our area. We wanted an unconventional shop though so we acquired new construction from Santa Monica for there you’ll find a company that boasts high-end construction equipment. It did not take long for the shop to be put up, but even as it stands now in the corner of the road, I still feel that something is missing in it.
I always thought of a car wash as a great place. Growing up in Richmond, I remember dad would always tag me along to a car wash in our neighborhood where he would have his Mini washed and pimped up. I remember vividly that the place had a café wherein you can hang out while the men work on your car. Inside the café, dad would always have a cup of brewed coffee and a butter toast while I never got enough of the quarter pounder and creamy milk shake that the place served.
Apart from the yummy food, that car wash also boasts interesting books both fiction and nonfiction, which I can read cover to cover unmindful of the time. In fact, it was only in that place that I was able to read Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird in full considering that I have had this title at home since I was eight.
Just so much memories of that car wash and dad who’s now miles away from me. In my own car wash, I want my customers to experience the joy, satisfaction and comfort my dad and I had in Richmond. For that to happen, my hubby and I figured injecting an interesting feature that is not present in other car wash shops can do wonders. So, what can that be?
Wax figures!
Why not? Hubby has tons of these from DC, Marvel and Disney characters so it wouldn’t hurt if we gathered some from home and let them serve entertainment in the car wash. We’re going to ask the electrical contractor in Culver City to work on something that will make the wax figures beam with light at night so our shop would always stand out even in the dark.
