Though health conscious, I’m not the kind who would bother to research about vitamin supplements online and the effect of these products on my body. I’m just not a believer of health supplements discussed profusely online nowadays. What’s wrong with the consumption of natural products not sold online? My diet staples would normally include apples, milk, oranges and lemons, bananas, papaya, cereals, vegetables, vegetables, and even more vegetables which can be purchased in the market across the street.

See, I eat healthy and live healthy! I used to frequent the gym, too, but with my new work schedule, I don’t get to do that anymore. This fact, however, does not make me less of a healthy person since I walk to work everyday instead of taking the shuttle or cab. Isn’t walking a form of exercise, too?

Online vitamin supplements were simply taboo for me until I succumbed to a bad flu two weeks ago. Just smelling a hospital’s interior gives me the creeps. Aubrey had to mix my medicine with natural lemonade or papaya shake because she knows I wouldn’t take it in its bare form.

Aubrey gave in to my demands for three consecutive days, but after that she mustered the courage to say my body lacks the necessary vitamins and minerals that would enable it to function normally. I was shocked to hear this. How can that be possible when I regularly had fruits and vegetables on my table, in the refrigerator, in my room?

Aubrey calmed me and said the human body needs other minerals and enzymes that are not found in fruits and vegetables alone. She gave me credit for never missing an apple or tomato each day but it’s not a source of protein, which is responsible for building and repairing body tissues. Apart from this, Aubrey also stated protein regulates and balances the various processes in one’s body like the transport of nutrients, water balancing and many others. Without protein, my body would suffer abnormal or incomplete processes.

I started to worry because I don’t eat meat and if my memory serves me right, protein is sourced from meat. Aubrey disagreed vehemently, stating I can also acquire protein from legumes, pasta, cashews, soy products, and fish which I include in my diet once in a while. She told me I can opt for online vitamin shops since items sold here are also made from natural fruits, vegetables, and minerals that I can think of. Just because they are presented in capsule form, doesn’t mean they are less effective to the body, Aubrey further explained.

As soon as I recovered from the flu, I included L-Carnitine in my daily diet as I learned that it has the ability to produce energy and improve the immune system at a faster rate.
