Clients treat me not just as a party planner but also as a trusted friend whenever I agree to be part of whatever special occasion they want to celebrate. Hiring me means they trust my expertise and they are confident their party would turn out to be the best with my help. It’s challenging enough to meet the expectations of complete strangers let alone that of people close to me.

My best friend of twenty years asked me to be their wedding planner and I was hell bent on making sure I saw through the whole preparation process, leaving no detail behind. He had that much confidence in my planning skills that were of “David Tutera caliber”, in his own words, that both he and his would be wife did not make any requests or present me with elaborate themes what-have-you. “Anything goes” as they said. The couple just wanted to have fun wedding entertainment in PA.

Having a highly entertaining ceremony meant hiring a band or a professional wedding DJ in PA. To think of it, no party is complete without music. Imagine going to a Sweet Sixteen without a turntable spinner from a DJ service in NJ or attending a bat mitzvah without a party DJ reading from PA. Music helps set the mood of any celebration be it a coming-of-age party or a wedding. One would think it’s as easy as getting any who has been seen and heard before. But there are a few other things you have to consider in hiring a singer, a band or a wedding DJ in Philadelphia. Follow these tips and hear no note that is out of tune on your big day.

• You know what they say about early birds. Think of what music you’d like to sing and dance to on your wedding day and book the right DJ for your party at least six months before you tie the knot.
• Don’t let the DJ or the band turn your wedding into a practicing area – get someone who is experienced in the craft lest you want no one on the dance floor.
• Referrals aren’t just useful in job seeking but also finding the right person in charge of your wedding music. Ask friends and family if they can recommend any singer, band or DJ.
• Know early on how much the service will cost. Musicians and DJs charge per hour and their rates may vary per season or per day even – non-peak seasons and weekday nights tend to be cheaper.
• Ask for samples of work in DVD or MP3 form just so you have an idea of how your choice musician sounds like. To hear is to believe, let’s put it that way.
• Create different play lists for the different highlights of your big day – from the first dance down to the cake cutting. Be sure to discuss the selection with your DJ or band and don’t hesitate to make requests.
