Of late, finding a television series or a movie without any sexual undertones is like searching for a needle in a haystack. Some shows have completely forgone subtlety with suggestive working titles like “Sex and the City”, “Hung” and “Skins”. Even supposed children’s books follow an undeniably sensual context. Take the “Twilight” series for example which is deeply rooted in forbidden love, passion and sex – with supernatural characters, to make things even worse. New media, commonly known as the internet, certainly won’t take a back seat in promoting sex. If anything, it makes sex all the more accessible what with the growing number of free online streaming, video download and social networking sites especially designed for the above-mentioned purpose. Porn sites, without a price at that, are all over the net to further sate the appetite of far too many sexual viewers.

‘Sex sells’ seems to be ample justification for the popularity of such sexually-laden material seen practically everywhere from TV shows to consumer product advertisements. Now that I think of it, can I really blame my (ex) date for his improper demeanor? Well, our (dating) fate has been decided anyway. Though sex sells, I still am not a convinced buyer.
