Who can forget last year’s vacation in Hawaii? It was a disaster, and my plans for a surfing escapade turned futile as my friends and I were stuck on the road in a heavy traffic, trapped in a draggy car of very poor service.

This year we’re all set for Canada so when my friends told me that they have contacted a bus company in Quebec for a charter bus in Montreal, I did not show much excitement lest I frustrate myself down the road if this bus charter in Montreal does not meet my expectations.

Since they’ve vacationed here in Canada countless times, my friends planned the route to take for Montreal as we waited for the charter bus in Toronto Pearson. I sat quietly and pretended to be engrossed in a Dan Brown book to hide my excitement for this trip. Who wouldn’t be excited to see and feel Old Montreal, anyway?

I’ve read in a travel magazine that Old Montreal has maintained its old building structures which dates back to the late 1600s. The bleeding pictures on the magazine depict the city as an open museum worthy of every tourist’s time. Besides, one can’t say he has fully seen and experienced Montreal until he visits this so-called jewel situated near the St. Lawrence River.

I was in deep thought when the bus suddenly pulled up in front of us. Montreal here we come, I thought excitedly to myself. It took us five hours to get to the city and during the drive, our gracious tour guide would talk nonstop about the buildings to our left and to the right. There’s no denying he knows this place very well and I’m impressed that he can name all the rivers – he definitely deserves a raise for doing such a great job. See the worst thing a tour guide can do is leave unanswered questions in a tourist’s head.

We got off the bus upon reaching the Montreal Museum of Contemporary Art. Am I impressed with these marvelous artworks done by Canada’s homegrown artists. You won’t see two artworks that are exactly alike. I wish I had the creativity of these guys.

Back in the bus, I surprised my friends when I asked our tour guide if we could see the Montreal Biodome, which houses Atlantic puffins and Black Guillemots from the Arctic and different species of birds. Our tour guide answered in the positive and after an enjoyable tour in the zoo, I asked him if he can suggest a charter bus en route Ottawa. This line suddenly puts all my friends in stitches. According to them, they’re just happy that I’ve gone back to my good old self.
