Seeing the city again as my flight touches ground, made me feel nostalgic of home. I grew-up at Midtown west before but moved to New York as I started College. It’s been five years and this is my first home coming since I left.
Growing-up in Atlanta was fun. I remember riding the bus charter in Atlanta going downtown with my friends. We’re not exactly the black sheep or the cream of the crop either but we enjoy being free. Riding Atlanta shuttle services were our hobby. We love going around places, exploring the streets and finding unexpected sites.
One time, we called-up an Atlanta limo rental to check their services. Surprisingly, limo rental in Atlanta is not that expensive. As senior students working on a part time job, we can actually afford it if we cheap in and that’s what we did. We hire a limo as a shuttle service in Atlanta to tour us around. We went to old towns exploring anything historic. The place we enjoyed the most is the Oakland cemetery. It’s one of the oldest cemeteries in the city. It was beautifully creepy, full of some of the oldest tombstones and mausoleums of the residents. Victorian sculptures such as a cherub in a shell, a weeping mother, classical figure clutched to a cross and angel figures are prominent also. Widespread markers covered in lilies and ivy and portrait stones are also present. We actually did a picnic in one of the tombstones. Afterwards, we lay side by side and basked in sun’s rays. It was one of the best summers of my life.
As I exit the airport, I feel thrilled and excited to see my friends again. We planned of touring the city and going back to the cemetery to have picnic there again. Atlanta is not far from how New York looks like but there is nothing better than being in your home town after a while. New York is great but my heart will always belong home, to Atlanta.
