I have been a chauffer for an airport limo service in Denver for 5 years now, and boy, I can tell you now that some passengers can be a real pain in the ass!

The funny thing with passengers riding limos in Denver CO is that they think: “Ooh, I can pay for limo services in Denver Colorado! I probably look real classy and important!” But then the ironic thing is that as soon as they believe that they look classy and important, all class and everything important goes out the window.

Of course it is different for real classy and important people. A limo ride for them is just a way to get from point A to B. They probably think like this because they are so used to the luxurious life that a limo ride just becomes ordinary. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised that they would own a limo and it would be parked in their 8-car garage right now. They would probably just get an airport limo in Denver just because everything becomes easier that way: since they are paying a lot of money, the chauffer shows up on time, they get to the airport in time while being comfortable along the way. As opposed to hailing for a cab that just wouldn’t show up, it is just easier, if money is no object.

Anyway, there was this one particular client, or rather, the client’s guest, who really got on my nerves. I don’t usually get bothered with drunk or rowdy passengers as long as they not hurt anybody, especially the client or the damage the car. But this one almost made me want to do things I would regret. When I arrived to pick up the client in his house, he instructed me to pick his other guests from their houses. As instructed, I went ahead and picked up the rest of the party. Like most of all the other parties I have driven around, they popped the usual champagne bottle and got the night started. After a few drinks, I immediately noticed that that guest spoke way more loudly than anyone in the car. It was clear that he wanted to dominate and control the situation. I was thinking he probably was just excited and felt good riding in a Denver limo. I didn’t really mind too much all the commotion at the back and just concentrated on my driving. Upon reaching the restaurant where all of the guests were to eat, he purposefully exited last and approached me to ask me if I wanted to make money on the side. I just said that I can’t do that and I was to wait outside until the client says I come back and pick them up. He then went on inside. When they got out after a few hours, the client asked me to drive them home and then drop off everyone else in their respective houses.

The annoying man then went to suggest that he be dropped off last. So then came the point where there was just me, him and his wife. He then asked me again if I wanted to make that money. I refused telling him that I was to drop him off to his house. I was getting irritated but I tried my hardest to be civil about everything. He then raised the partition and talked to his wife thinking I could not hear them talking. He prattled on and on how ‘help these days are so unreliable’ and ‘people should be more attentive and do their jobs right’. At this point, I was getting really pissed off so I shoved my foot on the pedal and felt the satisfying thud of them being flung back on their seats. When we reached the house, I immediately went and opened the door for them to get out. He sneered at me while they exited and said something under his breath which I’m sure was something venomous. I asked him to say that again because I honestly wanted to know if he had the guts to say it to my face. I was really going to hit him if he did say anything. Fortunately he just backed off and I left. In hindsight, that was probably a good thing because I could’ve ended up in jail. How can some people be so callous and classless? All in all, worse things could have happened but fortunately it didn’t.
